🎙 Your Guide to Record the Best Audio Remotely
Your voice is the heart of your story. To ensure the best possible online recording, follow this simple guide.
âś… 1. Set up in a quiet room
Choose a quiet space with soft surfaces (carpet, curtains, bookshelves) to reduce echo.
Turn off any fans, TVs, notifications, or noisy appliances.
âś… 2. Use the right microphone & headphones
Use: Wired earphones (e.g., iPhone or Samsung wired earbuds) with a built-in mic.
Avoid: Laptop microphones or wireless earbuds (AirPods) – they pick up too much background noise.
âś… 3. Use a strong internet connection
Best: Use a wired Ethernet connection if possible.
If using Wi-Fi: Be close to the router and ask others in your home to avoid heavy internet use (e.g., streaming).
âś… 4. Use your smartphone as a high-quality recorder
Please also use your phone’s Voice Memos app (iPhone) or Easy Voice Recorder (Android) to make sure we capture the best sound possible – better safe than sorry!
Step 1: Place your phone on a soft surface (like a pillow) to absorb vibrations.
Step 2: Keep the phone 15 cm from your mouth.
Step 3: Open the recording app and start recording before we begin our online session – I’ll remind you to do it before we start.
Step 4: After the interview, send the file via WeTransfer, Google Drive, or email.
Pro tip: Switch your phone to airplane mode to avoid notifications interrupting the recording.
Et voilà , now we can focus on what really matters – your story!
